Seagull Artist Portriat

Hi,
Just visited a guitar shop to try out a Godin Progression (not that impressed) and started talking to the sales person about Seagulls. He brings over a used Artist Portrait CW with an Ibeam. I could probably get it for $500. Problem is that I already have a Mosaic CW with an Ibeam - I might sell my Kingpin for this and I love the Kingpin. Any views on the Portrait in general or versus the Kingpin or Mosaic just for grins.

I can't speak for the Artist model that you're considering, but many times I haven't found enough of a difference between the standard Seagulls & the Artists to justify the additional cost. Of course YMMV .

I believe that you are right but I have gas for this Artist. The one I own currently has a cedar top and this one has a spruce. I like the spruces better than the cedar tops. Not as warm at first but as the years go by they age well.

I've also been gassing for spruce topped acoustic of my own because my wife is well-stocked on cedar tops. The Seagull Maritime SWS Rosewood with the 1.72 nut width has my attention.
