S&P owners?

Postby simonpatrick on Sun May 31, 2009 3:12 pm

Anybody here? I was pumped to see a Godin forum and even more excited to see that S&P had it's own little spot...bummed out that this place isnt very active. Oh well, maybe it will pick up some...I have an 05 cut-away,rosewood, showcase series model that I purchased at this time last year(1 year anniversary :P ) and everytime it's picked up and played it reminds me how happy I am for choosing it.

At the time I had only been playing for a couple months and wanted to get a better sounding dread and really was only aware of the "bigger" names and went in thinking I'd get a Martin. The dealer over here suggested that I try the S&P out after playing some nice Alvarez's and Yairis(they didnt carry Martins) and the shop was in the process of carrying just Alvarez and Seagulls so this was the last pattie there...anyways to make a long story short this guitar sounded more deeper to me than all the others(w/spruce tops) and once the salesman said it could be had at almost half off I jumped on it and have never had any regrets...this one will be played until it falls apart.

I'm interested in getting an acoustic and would like to stick with the Godin brand... any suggestions for a guitar? And what's the price range on these things? I don't want a really beginner guitar, but really any of the "beginner" Godin electrics are pretty good.

you might really like the S&P showcase...you can get one with a cut-away(acoustic-electric), the necks have a razor thin feel to me because of my NBA sized hands and I like the feel. This model isnt really a beginner guitar imo...for new it's usually listed anywhere from 1,000-to-1,4000 hundred dollars and has a solid top and back... so going by price I guess it would be considered mid to high end(depending on the buyer) but the woods are top notch and it plays like a high end guitar to me. I've noticed on ebay that you can get some steals on the used ones but obviously you don't get a chance to play em before you buy to find out if you like the sound or not.

Another brand to look at would be the Seagulls, I played a couple and have really liked them...Never seem to hear bad things about em either, so good luck in your search.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you and was thinking about getting an electric but being used to an acoustic I'll probably be more comfortable handling a bigger sized electric...do you know of any Godin's or other brand names to look into(I've played a Les Paul and liked it)?

A couple of days back my wife tried several of the new Seagull SWS (Solid Wood Series) models, & I was very impressed. While some of the all solid wood Seagull Artists models sound a little lifeless (overbuilt perhaps?), the SWS models projected well & had nice clarity. The prices for the straight acoustic models fall somewhere between the Epiphone Masterbilt series & the Guild GAD series. $510.00 to $550.00 for an all solid wood acoustic guitar made in Canada, not in China, isn't bad at all.

I can't comment on any of the Simon & Patrick models because S&Ps are very rare around here.

Hi, I've got a Showcase Mahogany that I'm thinking of selling. It's in mint condition. Let me know if you're interested.

That is a stunning guitar! One question though, is that newsprint crumpled around the headstock? If so, why?

I have a Simon & Patrick Woodland Pro Parlor Spruce HG. I know after playing this little Gem I know what brand when I'm in the market for another acoustic.
