Norman B20 Folk

Postby bndxu on Sun Jan 10, 2010 1:57 pm

Hello,I'm new here,i will be getting a new b20 folk in a couple days.I plan on doing some recording with it.Hows the finish on the b20 models? From the pictures I've seen it's a slightly polished satin finish.Satin finished guitars can be hard to record with since the finish swishes against you're pants. How does the normans finish react to recording? Is it smooth enough to avoid this recording problem?
Apparently there was a crash on this forum, just realised im the first to post in this section since:D

Got my guitar and am planning on buffing the finish.Has anyone else gotten a Norman guitar recently?Mine's frets weren't properly crowned, they have some flatness along the tops like they were leveled but never crowned.Just thought i would ask,i guess I'll have to wait a few months for a response... .jk

I've noticed that one some of the new guitars the fit and finish isn't quite what it once was, but now with that being said it is still leaps and bounds above alot of the competition. How did the buffing the finish go? I did my seagull s6+ and it turned out really good.

I used the white turtle wax polishing compound and it took about 4 hours while watching tv but it turned out fantastic and it really adds to the look of the guitar. You need to use super soft cloths (old flannel shirts work great) for doing this.

Sorry for bringing an older post back but - In regards to the polishing process you did, did you need to prep the current finish before polishing (steel wool or similar)? If so, how did you do it?

I just polished it the way it was. Because the grain on my seagull wasn't filled it would never give a mirror finish (and that certainly wasn't what I was after), I just did small circles and a little elbow grease.
