LaPatrie steel string

Postby Antonio Salieri on Tue Feb 10, 2009 11:25 am

I can't remember if I posted this on the "old" Godin Forum, but I did post something at Guitar Flock.

My wife & I were out one day hitting the local pawn shops to see what we could find, and came across a LaPatrie steel string dreadnaught. I didn't note the model number, as I recall the label was missing, but it was definately a LaPatrie. The body was slightly thinner than a 'standard' dread. I'm thinking that it was a copy of one of the popular Martin models.

Even with severely corroded strings the guitar was loud, as in really booming volume. If it had not been in such rough comestic condition (it seemed to be structurally sound) it would've came home with us.

After doing some research I realized that it was probably a rare LaPatrie model, and of course when I went back to the pawn shop it had been sold .

Has anybody else ran across a LaPatrie steel string? I know that the current LaPtrie models are nylon string classicals.
