Postby ElKabong on Mon Feb 08, 2010 11:42 pm

hey everyone,

I recently traded my Fender USA HWY 1 Strat for the artisan st4. Its got the birds eye maple top. I cant seem to find any info on this guitar except that its discontinued and a really good guitar. I am hoping that one of you knowledgeable people may be able to help me out.

Thanx

Hey man,

Hope I can help you a little. Are you talking about a 4 or 5 as there is a discepency between the title and your post. If the body has a long horn and a big cutaway its likely a 5. If it has a push/pull tone switch its likely a 5. The 4 was a little bit cheaper because I don't think it had this. Apart from that not a lot different.

I have an ST-V myself.

It has a maple top with natural wood binding and I believe the inner wood is limewood. Maple neck w/ rosewood fingerboard.

Schaller Floyd Rose as you've probably noted, truely excellent floyd rose worth a good deal in itself.

The pickups are a modified Bill Lawrence design. If you have the push/pull tone switch it cuts half the db level at 600hz. I find this adds great variety to the guitar. Apart from that even Godin themselves have little info on the pups. I tend to find people either love them or hate them.

If there is anything else I can help you with give me a shout.
