Godin Cases

Postby Bass4Uphill on Wed Nov 11, 2009 12:45 pm

I have owned a Freeway 5 string for just over three years and I still love it. One problem I had, though, was with the case. I was carrying it by the handle on the side of the bag when the zipper gave way. The Velcro holding the neck to the neck block let go and the bass tumbled to the ground, to the hard concrete ground. Ouch!

It appears that the weight of the guitar rests on the top panel of the gig bag and hence puts a strain on the zipper. Godin replaced the bag without any issue, except that it was a one-time deal.

I looked at the design of the bag and sewed on a webbing handle to the top panel, rather like a regular Fender bag. I can now support the weight without any strain on the zipper.

Good move. I don't use my bag much but it has a zipper that will open easily. I prefer the handles sewn to the sides.

Peace, Mooh.
